FIFE FISHING Guide: Coarse, Game, River and Saltwater fishing in FIFE

NEWTON FARM FISHERY - Location: OS 59/401245

Day and Evening: (+44)01382 542513

This fishery isn't the biggest in the world, but it may just be the friendliest and most welcoming.

Situated by the side of the B946, a few miles south of the Tay Bridge, it has a nice sheltered location beside a big pig farm.

The pond is your standard put-and-take fishery, well managed and nicely landscaped. The pond has a variety of depths and interesting features, and this is another place where you have to think your fish out - they don't come to the top waving white flags very often!

Gordon and Katherine Crawford cater for individuals, groups, clubs and corporate organisations, and given the added attractions of testing sporting-clay layout, and quad bike track, you could have a highly entertaining day, even if the trout won't play.

Many of the anglers make regular trips to the fishery hut, where tea and coffee are on continual offer. It is also rumoured that 'wee drammies' get dished out in season. A chilly day in December could need that sort of anti-freeze.

Favoured areas for fishing are the extreme East-End Bay, Junction Pool and North Arm in the summer months, and Brownie Pool and either side of the Causeway in winter. The locals and regulars tend to fish floating lines until mid-winter.

Finally, if you are in the Newburgh area, and you fancy a cast, you could do a lot worse than head for Lochmill Reservoir.
