FIFE FISHING Guide: Coarse, Game, River and Saltwater fishing in FIFE

KINGHORN LOCH - Location: OS 65/258875

Located close to the B923, two miles east of Burntisland, this charming little loch is home to some excellent specimen fish.

Some very big pike and specimen-sized common and mirror carp have been caught here, and there are rumours of good quality bream, although hard evidence is scarce.

On the north side of the loch is located the Craigencalt Farm Ecology Centre and Community Woodland.

We are happy to encourage fishing at the loch but also keen to avoid conflict with other users. The fishing on the east side of the loch (next to the large car park) is free and can be fished at all times.

The bank beside the Ecology Centre car park requires a donation of £4 per day (£2 for children). This can be paid to the Centre office (opposite the farm buildings) during office hours (Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) or you can put the money in the donation box (along with your name) in the information hut.
Fishing is generally available here day and evening except when the Canoe Club and Sailing Club are operating. They are paying tenants and they rent storage as well as launching facilities.

In summer (Easter - September) the Canoe Club use the facility from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and fishing is not permitted from this area on these evenings. In winter they operate on Saturday mornings.

The sailing club do not use the loch in summer but sail on Sundays during the winter.

There is no fishing from the picnic area at the centre and the rest of the south bank is reserved by the Scottish Carp Group.

The west end is set aside as a nature reserve area and there is no fishing allowed there.

There is a map available in our information shelter clearly outlining the different fishing areas.
