FIFE FISHING Guide: Coarse, Game, River and Saltwater fishing in FIFE

Coarse Fishing in Fife

There is a surprisingly good, varied and comprehensive supply of coarse fisheries in South West Fife. Some of their waters are coarse fisheries by default, in that they were originally mixed fisheries but have lost their trout populations (e.g. Loch Gelly and Kinghorn Loch).

Others are coarse fisheries by design, such as Little Glenniston Pond, and have carefully cultured populations of coarse fish. Of course, many of the trout fisheries contain coarse species (primarily perch and pike) and it may be possible to fish specifically for them with permission of the proprietors.

Although trout fishing is still the region's most popular form of fishing, the ranks of coarse fishermen grow each passing year, and it is highly likely that venues will increase due to demand.

There are no coarse fisheries in North East Fife as such, but there is an abundance of game fisheries, the River Eden and various saltwater venues.
